Spatial wellness as the interior design theme

 Hyderabad, India

The client: Leader in the commercial real estate industry

The client is a reputed MNC in the commercial real estate industry, offering a robust suite of services to multi-family and commercial property clients. Powered by deep relationships and industry-changing technology, the client provides support for the entire life cycle of their clients’ assets.

When the US-based client wanted to open its office in India, it chose Hyderabad, thanks to it vast network of MNC firms and progressive real estate policies.

Likewise, when it came to appointing a suitable design firm to do up the office interiors, it chose Oculus Design Studio. It was a project that the design firm was well-equipped to deliver, and raring to go.

Design framework: The feel of wellness

Being fully conversant with the real estate industry and the various stakeholders it would be interacting with in India (as part of its growth strategy), the client’s design expectations were mapped out.

Its culture of Biophilia, sustainability value system, and DEI policies had to be reflected in the personality of the new office.

In short, the proposed workspace had to have “wellness” in its DNA. The design team from Oculus grasped the multiple perspectives and expectations of the project.

The design team split the project into specific outcome-based tasks and translated the framework into practical output with a balanced mix of sustainable materials, colours, sunlight, plants, and technology interventions.

Execution: Science, design and technology

The whole interior personality was held together by the coordinated floor design. The team chose tiles from Vertical Layers, Living Systems, Haven, and Color Frame | Color Form collections from Shaw Contract to get the precise texture, look, and underfoot comfort in the new office.

Shaw Contract products, acknowledged for their global sustainability standards, gave Oculus’ design team the confidence it needed.

Net result: Biophilia-inspired workspace.

The new workspace enabled personalised user experience, enhanced productivity of the employees, and simplified collaboration among teams. Green plants located at appropriate locations ensured a cool and pleasant feel to the office.

The fresh environment turned out exactly the way the client and design team had envisaged, with all the parameters in place. The workspace atmosphere had a vibe of focus, cohesion, and spatial wellness.
