Sustainability has been a defining feature for the Berkeley Square House project since day one. The project’s creation was dedicated to the Build Generation team, whose commitment to sustainability has been a cornerstone of all their projects. Recognising the significant environmental impact of the construction industry, the Buildgen. team collaborated closely with suppliers and subcontractors who share their high standards of sustainability.

Two Shaw Contract collections, Haven and Dye Lab, were chosen for their functionality and aesthetic appeal. The Dye Lab collection infused the workspace with boldness and intimacy, creating a striking yet grounded environment. The Haven collection, featuring ComfortWorx® backing, provided exceptional acoustic and underfoot performance, enhancing occupant comfort. These selections reflect project circular economy principles.
Shaw Contract carpet tile collections, manufactured in a carbon-neutral factory in Scotland, the tiles are Cradle to Cradle Certified® and part of Shaw Contract free-of-charge re[TURN]® Programme, which ensures tiles can be recycled or reused when the client eventually moves office.

The design seamlessly connected distinct functional areas—a striking front-of-house, an open-plan workspace, a private and luxurious executive area, and a social tea point—through consistent themes. Subtle arch motifs were integrated throughout, appearing in tea point and meeting room joinery, corridor walls, illuminated tea point entrances, and executive area dividers. A rich scheme of burgundy, cobalt blue, green, and brown enhanced the luxurious atmosphere and unified the spaces.
The design prioritised employee wellbeing and inclusivity by creating spaces that supported relaxation and collaboration. Social seating in the FOH and tea point areas encouraged interaction and inclusivity. These spaces also catered to neurodivergent individuals, accommodating both hyper- and hypo-sensitivities:

·    Tea point booths offered acoustically sound, quiet areas for focused work.

·      Neutral colours, acoustic panels, high-contrast walls and floors, and blue accents in collaborative zones induced calm and reduced stress

Berkeley Square House exemplifies how sustainable principles, innovative design, and a focus on occupant wellbeing can come together to create an exceptional office environment. By achieving high environmental standards and crafting spaces that balance functionality with inclusivity, the project serves as a model for future office designs.
