Project Description

Riley's Fish & Steak took over a previous run down restaurant space located beside the cruise ship harbour of downtown Vancouver surrounded by hotels, office towers and the convention centers. Our goal was to be as environmentally friendly as possible with designing this new restaurant concept. First off we wanted to ensure we were not re-inventing the overall space by ripping down walls, moving plumbing, re-doing HVAC etc. that would cause unneeded disposal of construction materials into the landfill. We also tried to re-use/re-finish materials such as the existing hardwood flooring, bathroom plumbing fixtures and built in electrical. We felt that giving the overall space new flow and updated finishes we could achieve a new look and aesthetic that felt fresh, bright and overall inviting. We wanted the end result to give a feeling of bringing the outside environment of beautiful Vancouver indoors for an ambient, and full of life space that was inclusive to the broad demographic of locals and tourists of the area. The use of the materials were selected to create a tactile experience from luscious velvet and faux leather, rich dark stone to warm wood tones. The colour palette is neutral and elegant with pop of natural colour in the foliage throughout.
