Networking and Communication

88% of professionals consider networking to be crucial to furthering their careers, but only 25% actually network. Why it that? Networking typically has a negative connotation but, in this course, we will flip the script to start thinking of networking in a new light and explore the professional benefits of networking and effective communication. We will outline networking skills, best practices, and create intentional goals related to networking. Participants will outline their current personal and professional networks and will identify networking groups and potential contacts to grow their network. Lastly, we will delve into the questions and best practices that can build a meaningful and long-lasting network.

What’s Your Pixie Dust | Designing your Personal Brand

We all have a brand, either by design or by default. But why does our brand matter? In this CEU, we will describe the characteristics of a personal brand, review the process of designing an authentic brand, and illustrate how your personal brand impacts career development and professional growth. This course prompts you to discover your personal brand and then develop your personal brand statement. Once you’ve developed your brand statements, we will discuss how to manage your brand so that you can build genuine connections, trustworthy relationships, and be the best version of yourself.

It’s All About That Carpet Spec

It’s All About That Carpet Spec is a great introduction and exploration of the factors of carpet construction and understanding how each factor informs overall performance of carpet in a space. At a high level, participants will learn about different fiber types, the extrusion process, the dyeing process, the tufting process, and how carpet is finished. Understanding construction factors is crucial to selecting a carpet that will meet the needs of the client and hold up to the demands of the commercial environment. We’ll discuss scope, time frame, usage, aesthetic, maintenance, and sustainability and how each of these topics contribute to the overall success of a project.

It Is All About That Resilient Spec is a great introduction and exploration of various types of commercial resilient products. In order to specify the right resilient for a space, an understanding of resilient constructions and their attributes is necessary. Learn about resilient factors of performance, and how understanding the project, combined with resilient knowledge, will lead to specifying the perfect product. We’ll discuss scope, time frame, usage, aesthetic, maintenance, and sustainability and how each of these topics contribute to the overall success of a project.
