Phoenix Gama Metamorphosis: Embracing Change and Evolution in Design The concept of metamorphosis, or transformation, refers to the profound change of an existing state into something entirely new. Biologically, it describes the process where an organism evolves from the embryonic stage to adulthood, often transitioning between different environments. In design, change can manifest in various dimensions. First, Development- A fundamental shift in form, function, or identity. Second, Crystallization/Decomposition- A transformation that emerges organically from the essence of the object or space. Sometimes, this transformation happens through precise, deliberate actions—like the touch of a wand, a single word, or a glance. Other times, it arises from intention, desire, or the mere possibility of change. Metamorphosis frequently appears as a recurring theme in philosophy, science, art, and religion, suggesting an intrinsic connection between transformation and life. As Emanuele Coccia articulates, "All living beings constitute, in a certain sense, the same body, the same life, and the same self that continues to move from form to form, from subject to subject, from existence to existence." This philosophy emphasizes the importance of perpetual evolution in design. Change is not merely an occasional occurrence but a fundamental aspect of creativity. In every moment, through every interaction and experience, designers are continuously reshaping and redefining spaces and objects, infusing them with new life and meaning. One of the standout features that successfully encapsulates the concept of metamorphosis in the design carpet flooring. The diagonal lines create a sense of infinity and constant change, imbuing the space with a dynamic and energetic feel. This design choice breathes life and interest into the cafeteria area, making it a lively and engaging space. This motif of metamorphosis extends into the open space area with a colorful carpet adorned with very delicate geometric shapes. The unique pattern generates a sense of flickering and movement, yet simultaneously exudes calm and tranquility. This combination of dynamic design and serene ambiance enhances the overall experience, creating a space that is both stimulating and soothing.
