Design Thoughts in 2021
How are our colour choices responding to the new challenges of 2021?
“Different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting…” our feelings as we enter 2021 are reflected in Pantone’s selection of two colours for its Colours of the Year 2021.
UltimateGray and Illuminating, a hue of yellow, are both enduring and optimistic which feels right on tone for these unprecedented times.
Our EMEA Design Manager, Kerry Deffley, comments that trend reports have been predicting for some time a definite theme to our colour choices as we look to a time when we can emerge or are emerging from the impacts of COVID lockdown.
That theme can be described as Restorative Colour.
The theme embraces colours to enhance wellbeing - with tones to create a clean, hygienic feel. While pale and dusty pastel tones associated with calm and comfort are also being introduced.
Nourishing earth tones are very much part of this trend, with plant-based colours to help us reconnect with nature and the outdoors.
We are likely to see colours around us in commercial interiors that enhance wellbeing by embracing fun and joy as well. Brights such as reds, oranges, lime green and cobalt blue - as accents colour and to zone floor spaces.
Our new Colour Construct collection is perfectly suited to help you embrace these colour trends, and is available now.
