Project Description

The Mist Collection’s durability, tactility, and customizable patterns make it an ideal choice for any space—from intimate to public. This incredible range proved vital when designing the presentation pavilion for the ambitious Central Park development in Toronto. Nature-inspired, Central Park is a 12-acre master-planned community to be completed in 2026. It will incorporate industry-leading environmental initiatives for a clean, energy-efficient, highly sustainable, and wellness-focused lifestyle. Nestled in the ravines, this future-forward development connects its inhabitants to nature. And the design for its presentation pavilion had to reflect this lofty ambition. In today’s culture, the retail experience has migrated from visual to experiential. Successful visions are presented to the investors through immersive environments, taking them to the future where they can feel and imagine the possibilities. Following this method, the Presentation Pavilion has been designed as a time capsule, a striking architectural glass box that transports the prospective residents to their forthcoming life at Central Park. Inside, outfitted in natural materials and cutting-edge Green prototypes, an orchestrated retail journey weaves thoughtful moments of theater, interactive elements, and a series of vignettes. The expansive volume of the pavilion is visually grounded by a series of contemporary rugs from the Mist Collection—reminiscent of forest floors. Poetic, the ground-covering chosen patterns for these rugs connect the visitors to the feeling of getting immersed in ‘nature at home’. The warm colors of the rugs also catch the natural light that penetrates through the floor-to-ceiling window walls, flooding the pavilion with promise. The innovative technology behind this collection enabled the designers to conveniently customize the patterns in alignment with the use of Biophilic elements throughout this nature-inspired environment. The unlimited colors and possibilities were paramount. Moreover, the durability of the rugs makes them an optimal choice for a high-traffic commercial space. Still, most notably, the softness of their texture and warmth of their colorway options conveys an intimate calm to the open concept, high-ceiling pavilion. Akin to an idyllic living room from the future, the contemporary furniture at the pavilion (and other features) revolve around these watercolor-like rugs. This cohesive design strategy visually and tactilely soothes the senses, offering a pleasant experience and representing the ethos of the development. Central Park is a beacon of hope for posterity amid the climate crisis. With soaring aspirations, it is committed to sustainability and wellness. This commitment is confirmed by the design team, who delivered a permanent building for the presentation pavilion, reducing waste, and offering a future cultural hub to the community. Subsequently, the pavilion's interior design affirms the significance of connecting with nature. Every element integrated into this immersive retail experience—particularly the rugs—is essential to the interactive experience of its curated journey. They are critical references for delivering Central Park's vision of the future, when 'nature' is everywhere.
