For the IGO project, we were tasked with creating a mining workplace that wasn’t traditionally masculine and that is representative of the company's values and people. The result is a series of spaces that are inclusive, warm, and welcoming - the antithesis of a traditional mining company fit out. The soft and tactile aesthetic creates a series of humanised spaces that are a pleasure to be in. With 180-degree views of the Swan River and Perth CBD, a large collaboration and café space occupies the length of the tenancy and allows people to connect in a variety of settings. The project’s distinctive work club feel democratises river views and provides a northern aspect for all staff and visitors. Common areas are more aligned to a work club or hospitality setting and thus encourage more personal interactions. The economical use of standardised finishes and elements, along with highly bespoke artisanal features and finishes, makes for a highly personalised workplace atmosphere. Locally made and designed products feature throughout, which not only supports local industry but reduces the environmental impact that results from shipping. A carefully curated collection of local artworks amplifies the company’s values, culture and people. The sculpture garden is a symbol of IGO’s driving purpose of making a difference, signifying the importance of the people who stand for this common purpose and who are driving change towards a cleaner, better future.
